The Art Of Being Greek

The Greek Island of Rhodes has opened a new Modern Greek Art Museum. In December, the €1.2m art space, an extension of the existing New Art Gallery, was inaugurated. The goal of the museum is to “present the history of Greece through the eyes of Greek artists during the 20th century, in a way that reflects the international character of the country.” In Rhodes, the museum, the New Art Gallery, Municipal Art Gallery and the Modern Art Centre form a cultural hub. Modern Greek Art Museum also features a gift shop; a café; library/reading room and educational program centre. The first museum exhibition recognizes printmaker Valias Semertzidis whose works are part of private and public collections around the world. Image courtesy of the Museum of Greek Modern Art.
