In what was one of the greatest survival expeditions of all time, they survived by the very skin of their teeth through sheer grit, determination, and in large part to Shackleton’s leadership and the trust his men put in him. If you’ve not read any of the books about this crazy expedition, I highly suggest picking one up. I shot this while on an expedition to Antarctica at a moment when the ship also (purposefully) became stuck in some ice so that we could disembark and walk where no one else had walked before. It was such a great experience.
