Basilica stand at Dorset Seafood Festival. This summer, the Dorset Seafood Festival 2011 will promote sustainable fishing. Set in Weymouth’s historic old harbor, the celebration of the sea will feature celebrity chef demonstrations including Lesley Waters, Mat Follas, Ed Baines and Shaun Rankin. On July 9-10, 2011, some 100+ stalls will sell a range of seafood dishes and entertain and educate on sustainable fish species and recipe ideas. Passionate About Fish, a company that educates children about fish, will offer a fish identification session where visitors will learn about fish species. This year’s festival will show support for Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s Fish Fight to end the practice of discards. ‘We wholeheartedly support the fantastic work that HFW is doing by encouraging a diversification of our fish eating habits and trying to change policy so that it works for fish, fishermen and consumers,” says Brian Cooper, festival spokesperson.
